Distortion

Feb 11, 2024

I think we are seeing a huge distortion of reality when looking into the internet.

The world we see on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and the other sites is not even a fraction of "real life".

Here's why:

The hugely clever Professor ... found out that Media Outlets heavily distort reality.

They do this for a good reason, namely their own survival.

Only if they shout the loudest, they have a chance to get people's eyeballs, sell advertising and subscriptions, and thus survive.

But social media sites put this distortion on STEROIDS.

They follow the same motivation - survival - but do so using ultimately clever algorithms.

Meaning, the YouTube algorithm's only job is to keep you on the screen, have you watch the next video.

But to do so, YouTube needs to address your lower instincts: Fear and Greed.

Anything well-balanced is just not newsworthy or click worthy.

So, in the end, you (and everyone else) only sees a highly distorted share of reality.

ONE result is, that young guys think they are a failure if they don't cruise around with their own Lamborghini in Dubai before finishing their 20ies.

We see a completely distorted picture of what it means to be successful.

That's sad.

And to bring in a little happiness, I will share another view:

You DON'T need a Lambo to be happy.
